In this four-part series for the BBC he crosses the country as big as a continent to find out what makes it tick. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/p00z8bp6\" target=\"_blank\">The first of four episodes covers Brazil&#8217;s Nordeste including S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds and the Lencois Maranhenses<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Guardian has a comprehensive feature on Palin&#8217;s Brazil series: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/travel\/2012\/oct\/19\/michael-palin-brazil-bbc-series\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Michael Palin&#8217;s Brazil, 19th Oct 2012&#8221;<\/a>.<br \/>\nIt remarks: &#8220;In the far north-east, the Len\u00e7\u00f3is Maranhenses national park is most easily accessed from Barreirinhas. Buses run there from S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds in about four hours. An air taxi takes 50 minutes.
