Wildlife Photographer of the Year: Lençóis

The Natural History Museum London awarded the prestigious annual Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards. In the category of young talent, French world traveler Jonathan Jagot (17 years) won the price with his entry taken not in our beloved Lençóis Maranhenses, but the nearby Ilha dos Lençóis. The red (or scarlet) ibis, Guará in Portuguese, is also found in Atins, along the Rio Preguiças. The Ilha dos Lençóis is about 100 km north-north-west from Alcântara (by boat).
